Dedicated to the spiritual guru 'Osho Rajneesh', the famous Osho Ashram is set in 32 acres of lush and exotic campus in the Koregaon Park near Pune. The Ashram propagates the teachings, ideologies and preachings of Rajneesh. 'Osho Rajneesh was a great thinker and philosopher. He was a rebel who challenged the worldly norms, preconceived notions and the ways of thinking and preached the real essence of life. He brought about so many thought provoking ideas that were simply extraordinary and probably eccentric for some people. Osho was highly acclaimed by critics and people from all stratas of life especially the upper class ( the maximum sufferers) became his followers'. The Ashram was an initiative by Osho to allay the sufferings of his devotees. Along with the spiritual upliftment, regular yoga and meditation programs are also conducted to assuage the physical and psychological troubles of the devotees. Osho Kundalini meditation, Osho Nadabrahma meditation, Osho dynamic meditation and Osho Nataraj mediation are some of the techniques that are taught here.
The Commune is open all seven days in the week however it does not provide the accommodation facilities. You can choose any nearby hotel for accommodation in case you are willing to stay there. The Ashram is laced with all modern and contemporary facilities like fax, internet etc. People in the Ashram wear maroon robes at the day time and white cloaks during the evening yoga and meditation classes. Osho's 'Samadhi' is also situated amidst magnificent surrounding of marble and glass in the commune. People can do meditation at the samadhi, four times a day. There also exists a garden in the vicinity of the campus called the Osho Park. The expanse of the garden is about five hectares, and was founded by Shunyo Foundation in the elegant style of Japanese Zen garden. The park houses many fascinating views like swimming lagoon, rock gardens, decorated wooden pathways, and magnificent artificial waterfalls. Devotees from both within the country and west are found in the Ashram, however they have to go through the AIDS test, before they visit the Ashram.
