Pune has a lot of enchanting places that will completely sweep you off your feet. Parvati Hill and temples are one of them. The Hill is placed at a height of 2100 feet above the sea level and is famous for its scenic beauty and magnificent temples. It is the highest peak in Pune and one can get the beautiful aerial view of the town below from the top. The hill is stuffed with an array of Temples that remind of the splendor and magnifice of the great Pehwas (who ruled Pune in the earlier centuries). Peshwas were great admirers of arts and crafts. It was under their rule that Pune observed remarkable developments in the field of art, architecture, education etc. These temples are the architectural marvels and oldest cultural heritage of the years of Yore.

Amongst all the temples that are set on the hill top, Parvati temple is the most acclaimed one. It is said that the temple once housed the gold idol of Goddess Parvati which got stolen and later another idol made of silver was set in its place. The other temples on the hill are those dedicated to Lord Kartikeya, Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu and Lord Vitthal. The hill also holds a museum built as a memorial of the Peshwa rule. The museum is a storehouse of period portraits of the heroes of the Peshwa dynasty, old manuscripts, weapons, coins, etc. The Samadhi Sthan of Shrimant Nanasaheb Peshwa is also situated near the museum.
