Sinhagarh Fort is a historical monument that has withstood the test of time and stands today as evidence to Pune’s glorious past. A famous tourist attraction, the fort lies at the vicinity of the city attracting a large number of visitors from Pune and other nearby locations. Apart from the historical incidences related to the fort and its huge size, the fort is also popular as a trekking destination. Situated atop a hill, the fort soars approximately 700 m above sea level and offers several trekking destination, the most famous being the one that going from Katraj to Sinhagad.

During the bygone era, Sinhagarh fort witnessed several battles, takeovers and invasions attempts. The most memorable battle involved Tanaji Malusare, a general in Shivaji's army who managed to recapture the fort. Over the years the structure has been ravaged by the travails of time and is now mostly in ruins. Inside the fort are places ‘samadhis’ of Tanaji Malusare and Rajaram –the younger son of Shivaji. Some other famous buildings within the premises include the bungalows of Lokmanya Tilak, India’s great freedom fighter and G.D. Madgulkarm, a famous Marathi Poet. The fort is now used by NDA (National Defense Academy) for training purposes.

Apart from Sinhagarh, other attractions located nearby are Panshet, Khadakwasla and Varasgaon dams and Torana fort. For the food lovers, the Buttermilk, Sweet curd, Kanda bhaji and Pithle-Bhakari of Sinhagad are hot favorites.
